Fire Spirit

A small flame elemental that spawns when placing light sources like torches and lanterns.

Fire Spirits pop into existence when you place a light source. They follow you around and drop useful Nether materials when killed.

Spawning

They don't spawn naturally. Place any of these blocks for a chance to summon one (each block has its own spawn chance):

  • Torch (~4%) and Soul Torch (~5%)
  • Lantern (~8%) and Soul Lantern (~9%)
  • Campfire (~11%) and Soul Campfire (~11%)

Soul-tier light sources spawn the Soul variant (different color). Naming a Fire Spirit anything other than its default name makes it persistent (won't despawn).

Behavior

  • Won't attack the player.
  • Passively ignites any monster or hoglin within ~8 blocks every tick (sets them on fire for 7 seconds).
  • Follows their owner closely.
  • Despawns after 10 minutes of inactivity or if their owner is more than 64 blocks away.
  • Immune to fire damage.
